8 times Jeff Sessions looked legitimately terrified during his swearing in as Attorney General

In his now-trademark alternate reality doom/gloom fashion, President Trump swore in racist and homophobic Jeff Sessions as our nation’s 84th Attorney General, referencing a dark version of the U.S., with Sessions as its savior of justice. And judging by the looks Sessions was giving the President and the audience present at the event, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that if you’d asked him five years ago if he’d ever be the U.S. Attorney General, he’d say no. As LGBTQ Nation reports: His record on civil rights prompted Cory Booker (D, NJ) to become the first sitting Senator in history to testify against a fellow Senator in a nomination hearing. Sessions also has a...

LGBTQ youth summit shut down to avoid clash with Trump

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reportedly shelved plans for an upcoming LGBTQ youth summit, worried how President Trump and his administration would react to the event. An anonymous source tells Talking Points Memo it was “supposed to be a big deal. They had a whole communications team on it, it was going to be on Facebook live. The intention was to plan a 5-year agenda.” Internal department memos obtained by TPM reference a day’s worth of planned events, during which “national leaders” would convene at the CDC’s Roybal campus in Atlanta, GA “to address the health and well-being of LGBTQ youth.” According to the source, initial planning for the event began last September, with weekly planning sessions...

Boy George opens up about that rumored feud with George Michael

Related: Boy George Addresses Rumor He Slept With Prince “In the early days, we were competition to each other,” he says. “We were both called George, both made soul music. So in the early days, we were really in competition.”  Then sort of later on, I started to really appreciate him as a musician — you know, right around “Faith”. I started to really appreciate his talent, you know?” Asked if they eventually put their differences behind him, Boy...

Frank Ocean’s mom wants Kim Burrell cut from son’s album ‘Blonde’ after homophobic rant

Cover of Frank Ocean’s album “Blonde.” Proving yet again that bigotry is bad for business, homophobic gospel singer Kim Burrell continues to take heat after video leaked and was posted to YouTube showing her delivering a sermon at her church wherein she calls gay people “perverted.” She was dis-invited from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which was addressed on the episode on which she would have appeared. Burrell has also lost her radio and television shows as a result of her hateful views coming to light. Now Frank Ocean‘s mother, Katonya Breaux, says she would like to see Burrell also disappear from her son’s album, “Blonde.” She appears on the track “Godspeed.” Breaux sounded off ...

Another One Of Trump’s Cabinet Candidates Has Made Horrific Comments About LGBTQs

Just how bad is David Clarke, currently being considered for Donald Trump’s cabinet? Oh, boy, he’s really, really bad. Like, even bad by the standards of The Donald administration, and that’s saying something considering the monsters he’s handing power over to. Here are a few of Clarke’s greatest hits: After a gunman attacked the Pulse nightclub in the worst American mass shooting, Clarke said that gun control was a “distraction” from more important issues like Hillary Clinton‘s emails. Yup, the mass murder of dozens of queer people: a “distraction.” He also called trans people “freakish,” so thanks for that, and said “they’re shoving it down our throats.” He probably means that metaphorically, which...

Man Kicked Out Of Megachurch For Abandoning Ex-Gay Therapy

We’d like to issue a belated “welcome out” to Jason Thomas, and a congratulations on having the courage to tell his story. Jason recently posted on Facebook about an experience he had a year ago that must have been very difficult, but has ultimately left him a better, stronger person. He was previously a member of the Watermark Community Church in Dallas, and in his Facebook post he describes the psychological abuse the inflicted on him. After they found out that he’s gay, church leaders sent him to a 12-step program to pray the gay out of him. His abusers at the Watermark Community Church told him to break up with his boyfriend, and that was the last straw. “I couldn’t see...

Bob Dylan Wins Nobel Prize; Remember That Time He Wrote A Gay Liberation Song?

Hey, congrats Bob Dylan for winning the Nobel Prize in literature! We may not always be able to understand your wobbly voice, but people seem to like what you do and the prize committee says you “created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” so hip hip hooray. Now’s probably a good time to mention how you played a role in the gay liberation movement, along with fellow fascinating weirdo Allen Ginsberg. It was called “Jimmy Berman (Gay Lib Rag),” and it’s about Ginsberg trying to date an 18-year-old. (He would have been in his mid-40s at the time.) So, that’s maybe not a fantastic premise for a gay liberation song, but we’re willing...

In case you need a refresher, here you go: After making national headlines, Theroux laid low for a while, speaking as little as possible about the incident whenever asked. Lance Sanderson, 19, asked permission to bring a male date to an upcoming dance during the end of his junior year at Christian Brothers High School (CBHS), an all-boys private school. He was told via email by his principal that he “really struggle[d]” with allowing Sanderson to bring a boy to the dance. 16-year-old figure skater Donovan Carrillo performed a routine in the recently held Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Japan to the song “Hasta Que te Conocí,” by Juan Gabriel that earned him adoration and a spot at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Unfortunately, it also caught the attention of some homophobic trolls. Slurs and derogatory remarks began coming in, and Carrillo decided to meet them head on in a series of tweets: “I’m not bothered being called gay because I’m not. Gun Sales Skyrocket Among LGBTQ Americans In The Aftermath Of Orlando Massacre

Last weekend was absolutely terrible for America, and particularly LGBTQ Americans. But it was great for firearms shops and gun manufacturers. Like, really great.
