9th Circuit Upholds Suspension of Trump’s Muslim Travel Ban

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has unanimously upheld the suspension of Donald Trump’s Muslim travel ban… Here’s the ruling. The Washington Post reports: The Justice Department, representing the Trump administration, could now ask the Supreme Court — which often defers to the president on matters of immigration and national security — to intervene. The Supreme Court, though, remains one justice short, and many see it as ideologically split 4-4. A tie would keep in place whatever the appeals court decides. A Justice Department lawyer, representing the Trump administration, and Washington state’s solicitor general, representing the opposition, made their final pitches to the appeals court Tuesday at a contentious hearing. Both sides faced skeptical questioning, and the panel seemed particularly interested in what evidence Trump relied...

Cabaret Review: BenDeLaCreme

“What the Hell?” That’s the question posed by innovative drag performance artist BenDeLaCreme in her latest show, Inferno-A-Go-Go. BenDeLaCreme’s shows are truly unique, not just in drag performance, but in theatre as a whole. Sure, she includes the goofy song parodies and wisecracking comedy so common in drag. However, she’s after something far more sophisticated – her seductive strangeness creeps up on you. The queen otherwise known as Ben Putnam is playing less of a ditz this time around, wryly joking about the fact that’s she’s chosen to do a drag cabaret based on Dante Alighieri’s 14th Century Italian epic poem Inferno. She’s more confident this time out, less coy about being more profound than the...

See How This Abandoned Gay Teen Turned His Life Around In One Year

ISRAEL: Posters Praising Jerusalem Killer Appear In Ultra-Orthodox Neighborhoods

The Times Of Israel reports: Posters praising last week’s deadly attack at the Jerusalem gay pride parade appeared in the city’s ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods Thursday morning. Distributed by an extremist group calling itself “The Faithful Judaism,” the notices applauded the stabbing as an act of holy “self sacrifice.” “May all of the people of God be zealous as you,” one poster read, as its authors expressed hope that similar acts would be carried out in the future. Under the headline “And the Plague Shall be Stopped,” another poster praised the deadly attack as an “act of Phineas,” a reference to an Old Testament priest who personally executed an Israelite man and a Midianite woman while they were together in the man’s tent, ...

INDIANA: Fired Clerk Cites Leviticus In Federal Lawsuit Over Same-Sex Marriage

Former Harrison County, Indiana employee Linda Summers has filed a federal employment discrimination lawsuit against her former boss and the county, alleging religious discrimination after being terminated last year for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Summers logically cites Leviticus as proof of her having been wronged: Plaintiff, Linda Summers has a sincerely held religious belief, based upon the tenants of her faith and biblical teaching, such as Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27, I Cor. 6:9-10; and I Tim 1:9-10, that it is a sin for persons of the same sex to engage in sexual relations and, based upon Genesis 2:18-25, and other biblical authority, that persons of the same sex cannot and should not be morally or legally recognized as husband and wife, and that God will judge individual Christians, as ...

NJ.com reports:A New Jersey jury on Thursday found a non-profit group that provides gay-to-straight conversion therapy guilty of consumer fraud for promising clients they could overcome their sexual urges by undressing in front of other men, pummeling an effigy of their mothers, and re–enacting traumatic childhood experiences. Australian Headline Of The Day

From an Australian version of The Onion: "In response to threats from a Canberra couple to divorce were equal marriage laws to pass, a local couple in a committed same-sex relationship have in turn threatened to absolutely not give the slightest shit were that to happen. Local couple Brett and Harry have said that while they are not heterophobic and do their best to be open to all different kinds of views if this divorce does go ahead they will have no choice but to go on with their lives completely unaffected by such a dumb stunt." Former Bush Administration Official Compares Fight For Marriage Equality With Rise of Nazi Germany: LISTEN

Appearing on the equally deranged Linda Harvey’s “Mission America” last weekend, anti-gay author and former Bush administration official Robert R. Reilly compared the fight for same-sex marriage to laws revoking citizenship of Jews in Nazi Germany, reports Right Wing Watch. After demon-obsessed Harvey warned of coming “civil unrest and conflict” if marriage equality becomes a reality, Reilly attacked the totalitarian gay rights movement which is aiming to provide a “rationalization for sodomy”. “I point to 1935 Germany as an analogy because that’s when the Nuremberg Laws were emplaced by Hitler’s regime which revoked citizenship to Jews and forbade Jews to marry non-Jews. “Undoubtedly there were many fine people in Germany at that time who did not believe in the race theory of history and...

Presbyterians approve gay marriage

It is not just politicians on both sides of the aisle who are evolving on gay marriage.  Now churches are changing their definitions of marriage to include same-sex couples.  This week the Presbyterian Church voted to approve gay marriage. The New York Times reports: After three decades of debate over its stance on homosexuality, members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) voted on Tuesday to change the definition of marriage in the church’s constitution to include same-sex marriage. The final approval by a majority of the church’s 171 regional bodies, known as presbyteries, enshrines a change recommended last year by the church’s General Assembly. The vote amends the church’s constitution to broaden marriage from being between “a man and a woman” to “two people...

Bobby Jindal’s anti-gay marriage editorial

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal penned an editorial for The New York Times tiled “I’m Holding Firm Against Gay Marriage” Thursday.  In the piece he warns that he will protect the right of organizations who feel gay marriage is against their religious beliefs. Jindal writes: That is what Indiana and Arkansas sought to do. That political leaders in both states quickly cowered amid the shrieks of big business and the radical left should alarm us all. As the fight for religious liberty moves to Louisiana, I have a clear message for any corporation that contemplates bullying our state: Save your breath. The ultra-conservative also took jabs at some of his fellow Republican governors in Indiana and Arkansas by saying that “political leaders in both...

Mike Huckabee and Tony Perkins Worried Gay Marriage Will Rain Down ISIS Violence On Christians: LISTEN

Mike Huckabee (above) has claimed that the supposed threat same-sex marriage will create for religious freedom is part of a broader attack that will include violence against Christians, reports Right Wing Watch. Speaking during a conference call organized by hate group the Family Research Council (FRC), Huckabee agreed with a pastor who suggested that the U.S. is facing the threat of ISIS terrorist attacks and the “equally intense assault on marriage as defined by God.” Huckabee replied to the panic-stricken pastor: “We’re seeing, certainly at the national level, internally this battle on marriage, but globally what we’re seeing is that there is an assault on the Christian faith in general.” He continued that ISIS will soon “physically assault” American Christians. Not to...

Linda Harvey Concerned Satan Is Deceiving the Supreme Court on Gay Marriage: LISTEN

Devil-obsessed wingnut homophobe Linda Harvey was busy spreading the muck again yesterday in her hope that the Supreme Court will “not be swayed by the schemes of Satan to deceive, divide and destroy.” According to Right Wing Watch, Harvey added that if Satan wins the fight for the very soul of America, people should be prepared to resist the “unconstitutional, unlawful decision” and - of course - think of the children. She also prayed that the “eyes of America will open to the ungodliness of homosexuality and sexual sins of all kinds and we will turn from the elements in our culture that are driving this.” Listen, AFTER THE JUMP... Last month, Harvey joined forces with Matt Barber, Peter Labarbera of Americans for the Truth About ...

Today’s Crazy Lie From Mike Huckabee

"If the courts rule that people have a civil right not only to be a homosexual but a civil right to have a homosexual marriage, then a homosexual couple coming to a pastor who believes in biblical marriage who says ‘I can’t perform that wedding’ will now be breaking the law. It’s not just saying, ‘I’m sorry you have a preference.’ No, you will be breaking the law subject to civil for sure and possible criminal penalties for violating the law. If you do practice biblical convictions and you carry them out and you do what you’ve been led by the spirit of God to do, your behavior will be criminal. God help us all." - Mike Huckabee, speaking on a conference call with pastors that ...

TENNESSEE: Straight Swingers Sex Club Seeks To Incorporate As Church

Via the Associated Press:A Nashville swingers club has undergone a conversion — it says it's now a church — in order to win city approval so it can open next to a Christian school. The story began last fall, when a fixture in downtown Nashville called The Social Club sold its building and purchased a new one in a run-down office park several miles to the east. The new building is geographically isolated at the end of a dead-end street, but it is near the back of Goodpasture Christian School, a large private school serving pre-school through high school children. It might have been years before school officials and parents learned what was going on inside The Social Club — its website says ...

Crackpot E.W. Jackson: Christians Are Ready To Die Over Same-Sex Marriage

"People have to remember Christians have died for our faith. We have died for our commitment for the word of God. So the idea that those of us who believe are just going to roll over due to social pressure when we know that we follow a long line of heroes of the faith who have surrendered everything? We're certainly not going to back up just because people are upset with us. I think that we are sowing the seeds of our internal destruction. We believe that we answer to a higher authority. Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne. We will give our lives standing for the truth." - E.W. Jackson, ready to die over same-sex marriage.PREVIOUSLY ON JMG: E....

USA: Catholic Bishops Unlikely to Live and Let Live Anytime Soon

There’s no doubting that Pope Francis’s comments about gay people have sent ripples through the Church. After all, when the new CEO says that things should be different, it’s hard not to take notice. The pope’s more relaxed attitude doesn’t have any doctrinal impact, but that hasn’t stopped Catholic conservatives from going into full freak-out mode. But there are plenty of reasons to believe that, no ...
